  13. Chlorine is very poisonous because of its great activity. Also because of its
  14. activity it is not found free in nature. Chlorine is the most abundant
  15. halogen. Chlorine is found in seawater, rock salt beds, human gastric
  16. jucies. Practically all chlorine comes from the electrolysis of brine, or a
  17. concentrated solution of salt. Chlorine has a sharp, disagreeable odor that
  18. attacks the skin and mucous membranes of the nose and throat. Much chlorine is
  19. used to bleach wood pulp for the paper industry and cotton and linen fabrics.
